Trader Joes Caesar Salad Pulled From Shelves


After recalling its zesty Arugula Basil Salad Kit less than two months ago, Trader Joe's is taking another salad off the market.


The grocery store company revealed yesterday that an allergy known as egg may be present in its ready-to-eat "Caesar Salad with White Chicken and Creamy Caesar Dressing."


Only Idaho, Oregon, and Washington retailers carried this product, which carries the establishment number "P-46987" inside the USDA mark of inspection.


The salads had "Best By" dates of 7/11/2022 and 7/12/2022 when they were prepared on July 5. They were packaged in nine-ounce plastic clamshell containers.


The problem was discovered, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, when a retailer alerted the manufacturing facility that the product's salad dressing packets seemed to be misprinted.


Instead of the Creamy Caesar Dressing, the dressing packets that come with the salad contain Sweet and Spicy Vinaigrette. These dressing sachets lack labels and include egg, which is not disclosed on the container for the completed product.


The FDA also stated that since the salads are no longer for sale, no recall was sought.


Although no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported, Trader Joe's advises consumers not to eat the product if they have an egg allergy.


The salad should be thrown away or returned to any Trader Joe's location for a complete refund if you still have it.
