Yellen in June, months after reluctantly signing a global tax agreement brokered by the U.S. 

He wanted assurances that the Biden administration would keep its end of the deal. Ms.

Yellen assured Paschal Donohoe that the administration could secure enough votes in Congress to comply with the pact.

Which cracked down on companies evading taxes by shifting jobs and profits around the world. Yellen's optimism was misplaced.

West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin III scuttled the Biden administration's tax agenda in Congress last week by saying he couldn't support a climate. 

Energy, & tax package he had spent months negotiating. He said the international tax deal, which he had previously supported, would hurt American companies.

“I said we won't go down that path overseas right now because other countries won't follow & we'll put all of our international companies in jeopardy, which harms the American economy.” 

Mr. Manchin told a West Virginia radio station on Friday. "We eliminated that."
