So, I decided to make a visual for my son so that he could better understand the concept. A great way to do this is with the Gallon Man. Seeing it in this way helps kids (and adults who never seem to remember) remember the values of each.

Watch us make it!

If you need help remembering any additional measurement conversions, I also have this printable chart! I have both this and the Gallon Man printable in my subscriber library.

**How many quarts in a gallon? with gallon man**

Our class hung him on the wall in our school room after making him. It's helping him with his math homework, and he loves having it with him as a reference.

Gallon Man is easy to make. You just need 5 sheets of different colored construction paper.

- An entire sheet of paper is a gallon.
- There are four quarts in a gallon, so for the quarts, fold the paper twice and write Quart on each half.
- The quarts are divided into pints. For this sheet of paper, fold it into eight squares (1 quart is equivalent to 2 pints; a gallon to 4 pints).
- Cups are made out of pints. Each pint contains two cups (16 cups make up a gallon), so the next sheet should be folded into 16 squares.
- Making the head of Gallon Man requires the final piece of paper. Make it look happy by drawing a little face on it. You get Gallon Man when you glue it all together! You must think he's cute, right?
